چکیده

The deconvolution of a single Gaussian kernel is extended to a sum of Gaussian kernels with positive coefficients (case 1) and to a Mexican hat (case 2). In case 1 the normalization requires the sum of the normalized Gaussian kernels to be always 1, i.e. c0 + c1 + c2 + · · · = 1. Each coefficient satisfies ck > 0. In case 2 (Mexican hat) the properties c0 + c1 = 1 with c0 > 1and c1 < 0 hold; c1 = 1 − c0 has to be accounted for the normalization. We discuss examples of the deconvolution of both cases. Case 1 is considered in an analysis of transverse profiles (protons and photons) and in the deconvolution of CT images to eliminate scatter. Case 2 is applied to a proton Bragg curve measured by an ionization chamber and a diode detector. In the domain of the Bragg peak there is a different physical behavior between both measurement methods. (Some figures in this article are in colour only in the electronic version)

Photon dosimetry based on selective data sampling for the NaI(TL) detector

Radiation detection is essential for determining of radiation dose. Depend on the detector and dosimetry method, detection process is performed in different levels. Pulse counting is the first level of detection. Typically, the output of a radiation detector for determining value of the radiation dose cannot be used directly. Through changing the response function or the readout detector, is tr...

PSO-Optimized Blind Image Deconvolution for Improved Detectability in Poor Visual Conditions

Abstract: Image restoration is a critical step in many vision applications. Due to the poor quality of Passive Millimeter Wave (PMMW) images, especially in marine and underwater environment, developing strong algorithms for the restoration of these images is of primary importance. In addition, little information about image degradation process, which is referred to as Point Spread Function (PSF...

Blind Image Deconvolution: An Algorithmic Approach to Practical Image Restoration

The goal of image restoration is to reconstruct the original scene from a degraded observation. This recovery process is critical to many image processing applications. Although classical linear image restoration has been thoroughly studied [1], [2], the more di cult problem of blind image restoration has numerous research possibilities. Blind image restoration is the process of estimating both...

ISAR Image Improvement Using STFT Kernel Width Optimization Based On Minimum Entropy Criterion

Nowadays, Radar systems have many applications and radar imaging is one of the most important of these applications. Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar (ISAR) is used to form an image from moving targets. Conventional methods use Fourier transform to retrieve Doppler information. However, because of maneuvering of the target, the Doppler spectrum becomes time-varying and the image is blurred. Joi...

Super-resolution of Defocus Blurred Images

Super-resolution is a process that combines information from some low-resolution images in order to produce an image with higher resolution. In most of the previous related work, the blurriness that is associated with low resolution images is assumed to be due to the integral effect of the acquisition device’s image sensor. However, in practice there are other sources of blurriness as well, inc...
